Global health is the consequence of a complex series of interactions between demographic, environmental socioeconomic and cultural factors. Its theoretical and practical bases have become a core message in teaching at both graduate and post-graduate levels.

Global health module at the Faculty of Medicine

A module focused on the essential knowledge of the big themes within global health has been integrated into the regular curriculum of undergraduate medical students as part of the mandatory courses of Public Health and Introduction to Medicine.

Epidemiology and Global Health modules in Master’s courses

Teaching in a few master courses aims at introducing epidemiology and global health among future professionals in other fields.

Elective courses for the students of the Faculty of Medicine and Dental Medicine

1-day seminars presenting international opportunities for further studies, field deployment, and health cooperation, with students and professionals sharing their experience.

PhD Programme in Public Health Science

3-year programme to form researchers who are able to design, undertake and critically interpret research and advanced training projects and to assess health status and prevent the spread of communicable and chronic diseases within the population; promote health in individuals and populations; disseminate scientific culture and applicable research methodologies.

National PhD Programme in One health approaches to infectious diseases and life science research

3-year programme to educate researchers with different backgrounds in a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary manner. Students conduct basic, clinical, and epidemiological research to eventually develop new surveillance, diagnostic, and treatment tools for infectious diseases prevention and response. The programme is co-lead with the University of Pavia in the framework of a national research network.

The Master in Global Health (MGH)

The Master in Global Health (MGH) is an online Second-level Vocational master of 1-year duration offered by the Centre for Multidisciplinary research in Health Science of the University of Milan, in close collaboration with experts and teachers from different faculties of the University, other important universities and organizations from Italy, and major academic institutions from abroad.

Mobility programmes for medical students and teachers

MACH offer support for mobility activities for medical teachers and students to promote the exchange of learning and teaching best practices, and provide placement opportunities in low resource contexts.
