Giuliano Gargioni graduated from Medical School at the University of Milan. He specialised in Pneumology at the same University and has worked for 17 years in Africa as medical officer, manager of district health services and consultant to the Ministry of Health on Tuberculosis control. He has worked for 19 years at WHO Geneva as medical officer of the Global TB Programme.


Research interests

  • Methodological approach to community engagement in prevention and care;
  • Partnering between health institutions and civil society organizations;
  • To contribute to identification of innovative ways of handling complex public health problems;
  • To focus on evidence generation that influences policy making by health authorities;
  • To pursue public awareness and understanding of global health values and healthy behaviours through  health promotion and advocacy.
