Matteo Passerini is a Clinical Researcher at University of Milan and Hospital Luigi Sacco, Department of Infectious Diseases. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at University of Milan with a thesis regarding cryoglobulinemia, he subsequently specialised in Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine at the University of Milan. His last part of specialisation was spent at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, working in the vaccine research group and then in the OrthoID team, with a focus on the development of phage therapy into clinical practice. His clinical duties are mainly related to the bone and joint infectious disease management. Moreover, he is part of a team of consultants dedicated to the manegement of infectious disease in several hospitals across Milan. His research interests come mainly from the experience at Mayo Clinic, who is still a Research Collaborator with. He is dedicated to the introduction of novel antimicrobial therapies such as phage therapy into clinical pratice. He is also involved in the study of long-acting antibiotics.
