Delegation from Zanzibar University visits MACH

On the 19th of May, a delegation from the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) paid a visit to MACH.

The visit was part of a one-week mission to the Univesrity of Milan, held between the 19th and the 24th of May, in the framework of a 3-year Erasmus+ project that promotes the development of teaching and learning skills.

The 5-member delegation comprised of Prof. Salma Abdi Mahomud, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Ramadhan Shaali Choum, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Fatma Hamid Saleh, lecturer expert in tropical infectious diseases and Prof. Mzee Omar Mzee and Prof. Saad Mwinyi Khamis, lecturers in dentistry.

During the visit the delegation also participated to various seminar and meetings mainly concerning specific Zanzibari pathologies and therapeutic approaches (e.g. infectious pathologies, different surgical procedures in the oral cavity, etc.).

Such meetings were very important for lecturers and students of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Milan, as they could acquire new knowledge concerning pathologies that are not very common in our society and were also precious moments of confrontation.

The delegation also had meetings with other research groups in areas of specific interest to SUZA (infectious diseases, gynaecology, neonatology, basic medical sciences, hygiene, dentistry) with the aim of discussing shared projects.
