Marta Colaneri is a specialist in infectious and tropical diseases at the University of Pavia. She is currently employed as a physician and researcher at the Infectious Diseases Unit of the ASST-Fatebenefratelli – Sacco, L. Sacco Hospital – University Campus, Milan. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Milan. Since 2020, the year in which the SARS-CoV-2 virus first emerged, she has dedicated herself to research on infectious diseases and carries out clinical work independently.  Her principal areas of interest are SARS-CoV-2, which has been a subject of study since the onset of the pandemic, and antibiotic resistance. Indeed, Dr Colaneri has a particular interest in antibiotic therapy, particularly in the treatment of complex patients, such as those who are critically ill or who have been admitted to intensive care units. These patients are at the greatest risk of infection by antibiotic-resistant germs. To date, she has published over 60 scientific articles on these topics.
